Au Contraire, my blogging friends! Christmas showed up at my house just last week, in the form of FIVE containers of Wheeler's Black Label vegan ice cream! The company is based in Boston, but the super-friendly Wheeler's folks felt so sorry for me down in Dallas that they shipped me some of their ice cream so that I, too, could partake in the delectation!

(Pictured above-- Five flavors of Wheeler's Vegan ice cream: Peanut Butter, Piña Colada, Kahlua, Pumpkin, and Chocolate-Chocolate Chip.)
Now all I needed were some cohorts to share in my sweet feast.
I recruited two friends (neither of whom is a vegan), and, equipped with quite a lot of spoons, we commenced the ice cream-tasting. Friend #2 was skeptical, but still open to the possibility that vegan ice cream might actually taste good. Friend #1, however, was downright close-minded. "I can't believe I am actually going to try this stuff," she grumbled.
Ignoring her whining, I set a container of Piña Colada in front of her. She reluctantly picked up a spoon and, scowling at me, placed a tiny amount of ice cream on her tongue. Watching her face in the next few seconds was priceless-- her expression quickly changed from distrust... to disbelief... to sheer delight.
"Well?" I asked, raising my eyebrows at her.
Friend #1 grinned sheepishly, announcing, "It's actually really good!"
Hearing this stamp of approval, Friend #2 grabbed the unopened Peanut Butter ice cream from the counter and elegantly danced her spoon into the smooth, creamy confection.
"Oh wow, Katie, this is DELICIOUS! I hope you're not expecting me to leave you any," she gushed, as she scooped some more peanut butter ice cream into a bowl and topped it with banana slices and chocolate syrup.
Friend #1, meanwhile, had moved on from the Piña Colada and was helping herself to some vegan Kahlua ice cream.
As for me? Well, what kind of chocolate-covered vegan would I be if I didn't go straight for the Chocolate-Chocolate chip? Although I was more than impressed with all five of the flavors, this one was definitely my favorite. With each bite, rich bursts of chocolate joy shot through my mouth.
(Above, happy taste-testers)
Later, I even convinced my parents to try some of Wheeler's delectable desserts. My mom was partial to the Kahlua, and my dad favored the spiciness of the Pumpkin... but they were BOTH excited to know that they could eat almost three times more of this ice cream than that of their old friends Ben and Jerry. "You may make a vegan out of me yet," my mom informed me.
Wheelers' nutritional info is amazing, so you can still freely indulge if you're watching your weight. And for those of you who are super-skinny like me? What a great excuse to eat an entire container!

NOOOOO way! For one thing, that's *awesome* that they sent you all that ice cream, it sounds so very good (chocolate bursting through your mouth and all!), and that nutritional information? I figured this Wheeler's Wondercream stuff would be oh so decadent and guilt-making, but 80 calories a serving???????
I want Wheelers, too! ;______;
Wow, that looks awesome. I'd love to try some. Those flavours sound so good. Yum!
Ooooh! That is exciting. I was just thinking outside of the box with the cupcake thing. ;)
I love it when non-vegans find out that vegans aren't deprived. Mmmm. That's awesome that they sent all that to you!
Okay, I'm jealous. It is NOT fair that you get to eat that amazing ice cream and I'm stuck with nothing but old popsicles...
Hey, you lucky girl! Glad you had such an awesome ice cream feast, and that your friends were convinced of the awesomeness of vegan desserts! The pumpkin ice cream sounds amazing... and the chocolate-chip... and the peanut butter... and I bet the Kahlua might be fab too, except I have no idea what Kahlua is supposed to taste like!
You are one spoiled vegan. Those are such creative flavours! And it's great that you succeeded in changing the opinion of 4 non-vegans! Score one for the herbivores.
Oh.My.Gosh. I am so jealous now! I've been seeing Wheeler's Icecream on a lot of blogs lately so it's about time I got myself some! Did you actually get yours for free? I'd love to try some, it looks absolutely decadent!
Oh my god that's so extraordinarily nice of them, aww. See, good people exist in this world *coughs*vegans*coughs* ;)
And all the varieties <3 I must say I am quite jealous haha!
I've never had soy ice cream before, I should really try it out because the way you described that chocolate ice cream it has to be vegantastic!
I had to laugh so hard when I read the explanation of your friend's facial reaction to it. Nice to see that your parents enjoyed them aswell and what an awesome comment from your mom (who knows, maybe someday you will) ;)
So you did post about ice cream after all! They look delicious. I have never tried pumpkin ice cream and you make me very curious about how it tastes.
Wow! Sounds good! Will they always ship out of state, or was it a one time occasion?
I am sooooo jealous! How'd you get them to send you all that? I suppose they'd never do the same for me, seeing as I live right in Boston.
I've only ever tried Peanut Butter and that was enough to make me believe that this ice cream is the best ice cream on earth!
...Maybe if I tell them that, they'll send me some, eh? ;)
You are so very lucky, and I would be with you starting with the chocolate.
I wish they would send me some yummy vegan ice cream!
You know, we're currently buried in a blanket of snow with more coming down as we speak, and you STILL make me jealous that you have vegan ice cream! Somehow I must try this stuff.
Jealous!!!! I wonder if they'd ship to Australia?
In all my years, I never tried vegan ice cream, so I can only imagine... You all have nice big smiles though, so it really must've been good :)
You lucky duck! They said they'd send me some, so I'm trying to wait patiently!!!
DAMN GIRL! You got to try more flavors than I; color me jealous! I'm glad everyone enjoyed them!
Aww no, that's so unfair to get locked out when it's snowing, poor you!
Luckily I live in a big building and sat in the staircase in my sweatpants. You cannot believe just how glad I was that I had just changed from a skirt to pants and threw on another jacket, because it did get a little cold out there.
I read your post about the pudding discontinuation, that's so sad. I know I would've done the same thing as you though, stock up! It still sucks though, but maybe you'll find an equally(or close) tasty pudding. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for sure ;)
Chocolate covered almonds, ohhhh <3
I used to make chocolate covered chopped almonds a lot! Small heaps of heaven, ha ha!
Thanks for such an awesome write-up! We're going to link to it from our blog, ok? And of course, we're very pleased that you loved it so much. :) -Amy@Wheeler's
I absolutely adore your site! I'm only a vegetarian, but I'm learning to eat more of the vegan food. And cakes. And ice-cream. And cookies. ^^
But I don't have any f your products in Sweden, but I will move soon! *haha*
We'll see...I think they forgot about me!
Whizzers are great ! (strange name mind...!), luckily my local holland & barrett sells them, occasionally. mmm crunchy! I wish I could email you the taste of my chocolate cookies - they were the best tasting cookies I've ever had :)
I've been having a slice of my giant cake on my breakfast for over a week now, but alas the last crumb was devoured this morning, so time for a new baking adventure.
Lucky you! I haven't had one bite of Wheeler's and I already love them.
Oh my god! How did you order that? I'm so jealous I can't even tell you. Even though I KNOW Wheeler's isn't in my area right now, I check for it every time I go to the grocery store.
I'm so jealous you got to try the peanut butter!!!
and congratulations on FINALLY getting to try it! ^_^
LUCKY, LUCKY, LUCKY!!!
It was also extraordinarily nice of you to share this treat with nonvegans... I totally would've hoarded the stash ;-)
What? They shipped you ice cream?
How wonderful are they!!
One word:
JEALOUS!
sweet! I'm really glad you got to try some!
oh my goodness I love ice cream, but the fat content always keeps me from eating so much of it. BUT....if I got my hands on these I would be able to eat ice cream everyday! LOL. Too bad they're in Boston. I'm all the way in California. :(
