Bite Me!

Alternative titles for this post:

  • "Bite Makes Right"
  • "Bite the big one"
  • "In the Heat of the Bite"
  • "Quite a Bite"
  • "Another one Bites the Dust"

...And on and on

If you recall my Cheeze Toast post (hey, that rhymes!), then you know all about my affinity for sandwich bites. I don't draw the line at cheeze-toast bites, though. To me, any sandwich has the potential to become sandwich BITES! Take, for instance, the humble peanut butter sandwich.

Sure, this looks good:

(Yeah, I'm sadly not a fan of crust.)

BUT this looks even better!

Three slices of very lighly-toasted bread with peanut butter (depending on my appetite, sometimes I'll have three slices, sometimes only two), steamed red chard, frozen cherries (frozen fruit is my favorite snack in the summer heat), and a tall glass of ice-cold almond milk-- for dunking the peanut butter bites in, OF COURSE!

(P.S. Don't you just adore my new plates?!?!)

Variations of Peanut Butter Bites:
Frozen raspberries, chard, and almond milk

A baby glass of almond milk/ steamed rainbow chard/ cinnamon applesauce (another venue in which to dunk my bites!)

Back to the normal-sized almond milk/ steamed bok choy/ and a nectarine)

With steamed chard (I looove this stuff!), pomagranite applesauce (and I spread some on the bites, too), and the ubiquitous almond milk

With broccoli, Granny Smith applesauce, and almond milk

Frozen cherries, almond milk, and more chard

That's a lot of peanut butter bites! You're right, they do look like more fun when they're bite-sized.

Hunger at first bite! I love steamed chard, too! And I think all your apple sauces are cute! (like you!)
Little fingery-food like this is great, helps me to get The Guppy to eat a little better!

You're too cute. Food is just more fun when it's in little bites! I always like to cut my pizza into pieces with a knife & fork, even though some people think it's weird that I don't just dive in with my hands & mouth. Sounds like we'd get along. :)

Do you season your steamed chard?

It's amazing how the peanut butter bites really do look so much cuter and appetizing than the normal-sized bread! I can't wait to try some dipped in apple sauce

So so... I see you have a lot of fun eating frozen fruit! I can imagine, if it's so hot there... Next time I have a sandwich, I will turn it into bites :-)

aww thank you so much for your sweet comment, it totally made my day! :)

I *love* your dunking of peanut butter toast. Dunking is an essential process of the meal. I gotta try that with the applesauce!

Have a great day!

I reckon you must like almond milk quite a lot eh! I've never tried it, but it sounds like it has potential! I tried oat milk a few times, which tasted kinda like porridge, so nice on cereal, but weird in tea!

Wow. You're making me CRAVE peanut butter bites in almond milk! That sounds soooo good! Thank god it's almost afternoon snack time (yes, I have a specific snack time...I don't care if I'm 27...no one is too old for snack time).

I think you are so awesome for incorporating all those leafy greens into your meals. Yum yum calcium! But those peanut butter bites are even more awesome! I love the idea of dipping them into non-dairy milk. I am sooo going to try that. Little finger food is so much fun. :)

Oh my, I'm like you - I hate the crust (unless it's toasted) of bread - my mum tells me that I should eat them because it makes my hair go curly ;0) but meh, I like my straight hair, hehehe!!

Ahhh, once again - your meals are awesome!! Oh wait!! They sell applesauce in those cute lil cartons?!! How adorable!!

I almost spit out my beverage when I saw the title of your post! I thought to myself, "Sweet little Katie?!" But then I read on... and love the idea of PB bites! Instead of a plain old sandwich for lunch, I like tearing pita bread or Ryvita into bite-size pieces, and topping them to make little individual canapes. Good stuff.
P.S. I introduced my college boyfriend to the concept of frozen blueberries as snack... and he liked it so much he ate an entire bag in one sitting. And got sick. Sigh.

Mmmm... frozen fruit. I love it. And if you or any of your readers have a good macerating juicer you can run frozen fruit though on a blank dye and you'll have instant sorbet - yum! Also, I think I have the same drinking glasses as you (the clear, ring ones) :o)

yum, bite size food. I used to always cut my grilled cheese sandwhiches into small pieces and people thought I was weird. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who likes things bite size!

Bruised Orange--

Usually I don't season it, except for using a little salt. I'm weird I guess-- I just love it plain.
